LA/AH-018 Udnessæter

LA/AH-018 Udnessæter was activated for the first time today. It seems that the closest parking is at Blekketjennet near Ovlin. I parked at N 59 59.983 E 011 41.203, which is 6 km away from the summit. There are excellent forest roads to the summit (except for the last 50 meters), but no cars are permitted. However, bicycles are welcomed, and it is a very fine ride in to Udnessæter. The difference in elevation between the summit and the parking position is only around 160 meters.

At the summit, as usual I erected my linked dipole, powered my FT-817ND, and started to call on 20 meter SSB. The band conditions were good. In 10 minutes 19 QSOs were in the log. I then QSYed to 20 meter CW, and  10 more QSOs were logged. Finally I QSYed to 30 meter, and worked 7 more stations. Among these stations, 5 were summit-to-summit.

LB/OS-001 Grønliåsen

It was beautiful weather today, and I decided to take a walk up to the summit. The rig and antenna was HB-1B and a linked dipole. It was quite good HF conditions on at least 20, 30, and 40 meters, and 16 QSOs came in the log.

LB/OS-001 Grønliåsen

It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm, and I decided to have a walk to Grønliåsen for an activation.

I used the HB-1B and a linked dipole. The HF conditions were really terrible. I made numerous calls on 40, 30, and 20 meters, but it didn’t result in more than 5 QSOs. I wondered if the conditions were that bad, or if it simply was little activity on the bands. (When I came home and looked at reversebeacon.net, it was easy to see that the bands were in a bad shape.)

LAFF-0064 Midtsjøvann

Midtsjøvann was activated for the first time today. It has an easy access. From the parking, it is around 100 meter walk, and it is plenty of room to put up antennas.

As usual I used a FT817ND and a linked dipole.

According to qrz.com the band contitions on 40-20 meter was expected to be fair. www.reversebeacon.net showed that the conditions were quite good. On 20 meter I was copied with good signal strengths all over Europe and at the east cost in North America. However, the number of chasers was relatively small, so the activation ended with 27 QSOs only.

LB/OS-001 Grønliåsen

Yesterday it was the first Tuesday in the month, and hence time for 2 meter activity test.

I brought my FT-817ND, a 50W linear amplifier, and a 3 element portable yagi (SB270 from SotaBeams) up to LB/OS-001 Grønliåsen (locator JO59jt).

I got 12 QSOs from 5 different locators. Best QRB was 509 km (SK7MW in JO65mj).
