LAFF-061 Delingsdalen

LAFF-061 Delingsdalen nature reserve was activated on May 29. I parked at Ingierstrand, and had to walk slightly less than a kilometer.

The equipment used was a FT-817ND and a linked dipole antenna. I started the activation on 20 meter SSB, then continued on 20 meter CW, and finally on 40 meter SSB and CW. Totally 61 QSOs were made.

LA/OL-043 Buhammaren

After the activation of Hvalebykampen, I had time to visit LA/OL-043 once more. Due to the broken paddle connection cable, this activation also had to be a SSB-only activation.

I erected the linked dipole and started to call. In about 20 minutes 17 chasers were in the log (one S2S), no more chasers replied to my calls, and I went QRT.

LA/OL-038 Hvalebykampen

It’s almost five years since I activated Hvalebykampen for the first time. Yesterday was my second visit. I parked at N 60 22.59, E 10 37.63. It is a little less than 2 km to the summit.

The last time it was hardly any view from the summit due to all the trees. Now, many of them had been cut down, and it was a beautiful shack.

I erected my linked dipole and started to activate on 20 meter SSB. It was in periods quite deep QSB, and “strange” conditions. I cannot e.g. remember to have received 5-9 from nr Copenhagen on 20 meter before. In 25 minutes I had got 17 QSOs, and there were no more chasers. I thus decided to QSY to the CW part. Unfortunately, that had to be cancelled. The connection cable to the paddles had broken; I was only able to send dashes…

LA/AH-014 Toåsen

A new activation of Toåsen was made last Saturday. It was a beautiful day, sunny and temperatures around 15C. Toåsen is an easy summit to activate. From the parking at Alværn, it is only around one kilometer to walk and 80 meter to climb. It is not a "real summit", it is just a relatively flat forest area, which gives no feelings of being at a summit. Nevertheless, it fulfills without any doubt the 150 meter prominence requirement. Thus, it is valid for SOTA activations, and that's what's important!

This was the fourth activation of LA/AH-014. The previous ones have all been CW-only activations. I therefore decided to start working SSB, and then CW.

In the start of the activation I was surveyed by the police helicopter which circled slowly around me three times in about 100 meter altitude (a new experience!). This caused quite a lot of noise, which in turn made it difficult to pick out signatures from the pile-up.

After all chasers were worked on 20 meter SSB and CW, I QSYed to 30 meter and worked some more stations. I then QSYed to 40 meter, but no QSOs were obtained. Finally, I made some calls on 2 meter and 70 cm, with no results. Totally 43 QSOs came in the log

LB/OS-001 Grønliåsen

Yesterday it was time for the monthly two-meter activity contest. I decided to be active for about an hour from LB/OS-001 Grønliåsen, which is about a two kilometers walk from my home QTH. The antenna was a SB270 3 el yagi from SotaBeams. It is claimed to have a gain of approximately 6dBd. The rig was a FT-817ND. In addition I also used a 50W linear amplifier.

In an hour I had worked 11 stations, mostly locals. Not that impressive, but it nevertheless fun. Best QRB was only 203km (I also heard stations in SM7, OZ, and SP, but sadly they did not hear me…). At 18:20z I had to go QRT in order to be out of the forest before dark.

LA/AH-020 Mjærskaukollen

I visited Mjærskaukollen, LA/AH-020 for the first time on March 15. I parked along road 120 at the border between the counties Akershus and Østfold. (Position: N 59 41.485, E 011 02.262.) I was then slightly less than 2 km away and 200 meter below the summit.

Equipment used: FT-817ND and linked dipole (BandHopper III). All QSOs were made on 20 meter.

I started the activation on SSB and quickly worked 36 stations. When no more SSB-chasers called, I QSYed to the CW-part and got 29 more QSOs in the log. Totally, 65 QSOs were achieved.

Also remember to pick up the ceocache GCQ344.

LAFF-060 Svartskog

I made a new activation of LAFF-060 today using the same equipment as in September. 88 QSOs came in the log, mostly on 20 meter, but also a few on 40 meter. The pile-up were in periods tremendous! It was really fun!
