LA/BU-026 Ringkollen

A winter activation to Ringkollen is always fun. Nice terrain for skiing, beautiful scenery at the summit, beautiful weather, temperature abt 2C and valid for SOTA. I activated it once more on March 23 2021.

I started on 20 meter, the activity didn’t seem to be very high, but 7 QSOs came in the log (5 SSB and 2 CW). Thus, I QSYed to 40 meter and was able to work 13 more stations (10 SSB and 3 CW). I got two S2S, both from HB9. It was especially fun to work HB15SOTA as one of the S2S.

LA/BU-026 Ringkollen

I activated Ringkollen once more on February 24. The weather was OK for SOTA, a few degreees below 0C, calm, but foggy. Usually I use a linked dipole. Not this time – I had forgotten it (but not the pole!). Fortunately, I do always bring a backup antenna with me, a MP-1.

The 20 meter conds were rather disappointing, only three QSOs came in the log (9A and EA). Therefore, I QSYed to 30 meter which was in much better shape.  At the end of the pile-up, I had 16 QSOs in the log. Especially fun to work SV with 5 watts and MP-1.

LA/BU-026 Ringkollen

LA/BU-026 Ringkollen was activated today, only a few months since the last time. Good weather, no wind, and temperature around 0C, and excellent skiing-conditions, made this to a pleasant activation.

Rig and antenna was YouKits HB-1B and linked dipole.

Total 19 QSOs were made on 20  and 30 meter.

LA/BU-026 Ringkollen

On my return from LA/BU-086, I would pass quite close to LA/BU-026, and I thus decided to activate it once again.

It is a short hike from the parking lot, around 1 km walk and 100 meter to climb.

The conditions were much poorer than they were on LA/BU-086. After many calls I had in 15 minutes achieved 5 QSOs (3 EA2, 1 EA6 (and S2S), 1 YO) on 20 meter, and the band was more or less dead. I QSYed to 30 meter, and worked 12 more chasers before I decided to go QRT.

LA/BU-026 Ringkollen

Yesterday, on September 12, I activated LA/BU-026 Ringkollen. The weather was really nice and SOTA-friendly; calm and sunny with temperature around 20 degrees. I parked at N 60 10.241, E 010 23.513 (close to Ringkollkapellet), 670 meter away and 100 meter below the summit. Not exactly a drive-in, but it is only a short walk to the summit. The path was clearly marked.

As for my last activations, I used my HB-1B rig and a linked dipole (BandHopper III), which both work very well. I started the activation on 20 meter and worked 9 stations. Then I QSYed to 30 meter, and worked 13 more stations. In total, 21 QSOs in about 45 minutes.
