LA/OL-311 Torsæterkampen is located well inside the nature reserve LA-0303 Torsæterkampen. Therefore this activation was both a SOTA activation as well as a WWFF activation.
I parked at Torsætra N 60 34.27, E 010 570.50. From the parking it is around 3 kilometers to walk and 350 meters to climb. I followed the trail "Totenåsstien", which is clearly marked. This trail can be followed almost to the summit. When the trail to "Hjemmefronthytta" (a replica of a cabin used by the resistance during WWII), this trail should be followed for 100 meter or so, and then follow another (and unmarked) trail going to left (N 60 34.51, E010 56.377). At the summit it is a commercial telecommunication installation, trees, and nothing more (with the exception of a geocache). No pretty view at all.
Close to the cabin where the telecommunication equipment was installed, it was quite easy to install my linked dipole (elsewhere the high density of trees could make it challenging to erect a dipole).
I start working on 20 meters SSB and CW, which resulted in 64 QSOs, among them one S2S. I had also planned to operate on 30 meter, and I actually QSYed to 30. However, I did not make any calls. The problem was my "neighbor". The noise-level floor on 30 was steady S9++ over the whole band, which made it impossible to use. I therefore went QRT and headed back to the car.
If I should operate from LA/OL-311 sometime in the future, I would definitively have spent some time on finding a better (more quiet) QTH. If the aim is to operate from the nature reserve only, this area is so large that it should be easy to find a convenient location for the activation.
